Music
Music plays a part in working to reduce stress. Today there is a variety of relaxation music to choose from. The key to appropriate sound for reflexology is to find music with soft, even beats and tones. Music for meditation, massage, yoga, or any healing art is fine, as the use of repetitive melodious combinations with instruments and beat is the preferred style.
Flute, drum, sitar, piano, and guitar are often the roots for the harmonious blend of music in the healing genre. Musicians pull from indigenous world cultures, incorporating ancient rhythm with newer harmony. The calming cadence used in the music of today is compassionate and joyful.
Peaceful, soothing music used repetitively is best to promote relaxation. If you use the same music during the reflexology sessions, the receiver will be given a subtle message to begin relaxing every time the music is played. Perhaps it is the beat or the melody, or maybe it is the repetition — whatever the cause, play music!
The use of music is good for the giver, too. Recorded rhythm is a subtle reminder to move your body while applying the treatment. Remember, if you move while you are giving, you will protect your body and give a better session.
