The Tendon Line

The tendon that runs from the heel to between the first and second toes is used as a guideline. This line helps to divide the foot, offering a landmark to work in toward as you thumb walk across the sole of the foot. This is one of many tendons found in the sole of the foot.

Feel along the sole of the foot, letting your fingers trace a line from the ball down to the heel line. Feel the tautness along this particular tendon; there is actually a line you can feel vertically down the sole surface. Have the receiver flex her toes; you will notice that the tendon actually presents itself to you.

The tendon is a guideline. There are reflexes that fall on one side or the other with regard to this line. This helps you to find exact points and to remember where you are on the foot in relation to the body.

Alert

Direct pressure on this tendon line will cause pain and undue stress to the tissue. Always use even, gentle pressure when performing reflexology. The use of undue pressure at any time not only causes unnecessary pain, but also could overstimulate an area.
