Close Down

As you prepare to end the session, it is important to allow the receiver the time and space to become grounded and incorporate what has just transpired. First, go back to each foot and work any reflex points that need more attention. These would be the reflexes that called to you during the session.

Perhaps an area was extrasensitive. Or a point resisted your fingers. Maybe another area was too pliable. The more you practice reflexology, the more aware and alert your fingers and your senses will become to the underlying tensions found in the feet.

FIGURE 20-1 As you close down, walk the zones on each foot one last time.

Make a practice of gently walking the zones on each foot one last time (as shown in FIGURE 20-1), to ensure all reflex points have been properly worked. Walk your fingers down the tops of the feet and in between the metatarsal bones as a final walk-through. This is a gentle cradling of the body, sewing together any loose ends.
