Setting Up Your To-Do List
Your to-do list is comprised of many items, from keeping in touch with people to the steps it takes to handle a transaction. As you complete the items on your to-do list, cross them out. Spend time every day working on the list. There are things that will stay on the list as you wait for other people to perform (call the lender for an update, leave a message) and there are things that can be crossed off immediately. Your to-do list should be prioritized so that you take care of the most important matters first.
Some agents keep their daily to-do list on their calendar, with long-range to-do lists on a yellow pad or in their computer. You may also want two or three different to-do lists, one long range, one short range, and one daily list. Be sure to keep them all in the same place, perhaps on different pages of the same yellow pad. Sometimes a lower-priority item can move to a high priority if it is not taken care of promptly.
