Black Sesame Seed Gravy
This is a delicious sauce served over mashed taters (see Shepherd's Pie with Mashed Taters).
INGREDIENTS | SERVES 2
- ½ cup black sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons finely sliced scallions, or minced red or white onion
- 1 tablespoon nama shoyu
- 1 cup chopped portobello mushrooms
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- Water for blending
Grind the sesame seeds into a powder with a coffee grinder or spice mill.
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth. Slowly pour in a little water until desired consistency is reached.
