Forbidden Toys
Some seemingly harmless objects that toddlers love are too dangerous to allow. Don’t try to teach them that these are no-nos; to do so would be to risk an accident. Instead, simply keep the following items always out of reach:
Any toy marked “not suitable for children under age three”
Glitter, which has edges sharp enough to damage eyes when they’re rubbed with glitter-speckled hands
Plastic wrap and bags
Small toys and objects that could be swallowed, such as buttons, marbles, Lego’s, and deflated balloons
String, yarn, cords, and long thin objects such as necklaces and bracelets, which can choke or strangle children
Styrofoam products (cups, plates, bowls, and packing materials) that could be eaten
