Adopted preschool children can have behaviors, issues, and concerns similar to those of toddlers, depending on their developmental ages and experiences. If your child is over three years old, he will be considered a preschooler, but you may, especially during his first weeks or months with you, have to treat him as you would a toddler or infant. If he received adequate, loving care, he will attach to you more quickly. But if he was abused or abandoned, you may be in for a struggle and will need to recreate the nurturing infancy he may have missed.
