Green Tea Smoothie

Peach yogurt provides a handy substitute for fresh fruit in this quick and easy smoothie that includes healthy green tea. On days when you have more time, you can replace the peach yogurt with one chopped fresh peach, pitted and sliced, and ½ cup of milk.

Preparation time: 5 minutes

1 medium banana

4 crushed ice cubes

½ cup low-fat peach yogurt

½ cup orange juice

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

  • Peel the banana and chill for 15 minutes. Chop into a few pieces.

  • Bring the cup of water to a boil. Add the tea bag and let steep for 3 minutes.

  • Remove the tea bag and add the ice cubes to chill.

  • Pour the tea into the blender. Add the yogurt, orange juice, and sugar

  • Process until smooth.

Smoothie or Milkshake?

While you can't make a milkshake without milk and ice cream, in a smoothie the dairy products are optional. The main ingredients that make up a smoothie are fruit, fruit juice, and ice. While the fruit provides flavor, ice cubes or crushed ice give the smoothie a thick texture that is similar to a milkshake.
