Pasta Pilaf

Orzo, or rosamarina pasta, is shaped like grains of rice. This recipe is an excellent choice for people who have trouble cooking rice.

SERVES 8

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 8-ounce package orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Dash pepper
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  1. Bring large pot of water to a boil and cook pasta according to package directions.

  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in heavy saucepan and cook onion and garlic over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, until tender. Add thyme, salt, and pepper; cover; and remove from heat.

  3. Drain the pasta thoroughly and add to onion mixture. Cook and stir over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, until hot and blended.

  4. Stir in Parmesan cheese and serve.
