The Hoarder

“Everyone must give me all of the updates, do not communicate among yourselves.” Another term for this type is Glory Hound. This personality type likes to get all of the information and then proudly display it for the entire world to see. They like to be the ones in front of senior management telling them what a wonderful job the project manager is doing managing all of these resources.

Hand in hand with Egos, Hoarders like to funnel all information through them so they can effectively spin it. This personality type goes against the “It is what it is” methodology. They want it to be as they spin it. However, this creates a dangerous and slippery slope. They effectively spin minitruths, then can't remember all of the spins they have created. The project then begins to unravel.

If you know of any Hoarders, be careful if they invite you to copresent at a senior management meeting. You will not see the bus coming. What bus? The one that they are about to throw you under. This allows them to spin the negative news, but it's not their fault — they will pin it on you.
