Communicating on All Levels

The last part of communications management is to make sure that your communications are at the right level. You don't necessarily want to send detailed time tests of an application to the CFO of the organization. You also may not want to send detailed cost reports to the project team. For project managers, you must communicate to all levels. This could mean a direct conversation with the CEO of a company, or you can be pushed to the eighteen-year-old mailroom clerk. Whatever the case may be, you must make sure that your message is being sent and received.

One of the greatest things about being a project manager in the company is that you do get exposure and visibility to all levels of an organization. One of the worst things about being a project manager is that you do get exposure and visibility to all levels of an organization. In all seriousness, the project managers that know how to communicate properly and effectively have a shot at moving up the corporate ladder quickly. Those that do not may find that they are reporting to that eighteen-year-old mailroom clerk.
