The police have primary responsibility for missing children, but families and attorneys often hire PIs to supplement and intensify the search. For many reasons, children are most vulnerable, and the motives for harming children vary widely. Some predators are motivated by the money they can make by selling or prostituting children. Others take a sexual or romantic interest in children, and some are intent upon torturing and killing their victims.
