Get the Most Out of Monthly Check-Ups
Bring along that list of questions that have come up since your last visit. Again, write these down when they come to you and your partner so you won't have to rely on your memory in the doctor's office. And make sure your questions are answered before you leave; although it's nice to be asked if you have any concerns, in the busy atmosphere of an obstetrical practice your provider may occasionally forget. Stop her before she leaves the exam room and let her know you have a few questions. Never feel like you're being pushy or overbearing (remember, you're leading this team). In most cases she will do what she can to educate you and reduce any anxieties. If she doesn't, it's never too late to find someone who will.
Tests This Month
Additional blood tests for Rh factor and rubella antibodies may be ordered this month if they were not taken at your last appointment. (For more on medical tests in pregnancy, see Chapter 5.)
