Growing Up

Once your baby uses the potty most of the time, she can wear training pants instead of diapers. When she signals that she wants her potty after she has learned to crawl, put it two feet away and call her to it so she can begin learning to crawl toward it when she needs it. That way, when she is walking, she'll know to take herself, though she will still need help with dressing and cleanup. Do not be surprised if you feel you are a slave to your young toddler's bowel and bladder. You'll still have to help your child remove her clothes, wipe herself, put her clothes back on, empty the potty bowl into the toilet, flush, and wash her hands until she's old enough to handle everything herself. Your job as a parent is far from done!
