The Early Weeks
Right after you've had your baby, you'll want to dress for comfort and function. Drawstring-waist pants and loose-fitting cotton tops are easy to nurse in and comfortable in the first days after giving birth.
Maternity Clothes
In the early weeks, many women just continue to wear maternity clothes. It can be depressing, but not as disheartening as continually trying to cram your new shape into ill-fitting prepregnant clothes. With maternity clothing getting more stylish and flattering every season, you probably have a lot of outfits that will look and fit great right now. Try on some of the clothing you were able to wear near the beginning of your pregnancy but grew out of; the fit may be trimmer than your end-of-pregnancy clothing while still providing enough room for comfort now.
Essential
Your husband's side of the closet may also be a great place to look for clothes. A man's button-down shirt or sweatshirt over a pair of leggings can make a comfy around-the-house outfit and will be easy to breastfeed in.
Transitional Pieces
Some maternity designers have also created transitional clothing — pieces like wraparound tops that can fit during or after pregnancy and are nursing friendly to boot. Also, many maternity clothes designers now make clothing that's intended for certain trimesters, like pants meant to be worn below the waist for the first and second trimesters, or shirts with a bit of extra room that aren't always long enough to make it to the end of a pregnancy. Pull out some of the clothes you discarded back around the fifth or sixth month of your pregnancy; they may fit great now.
