Making Time for a Skin-care Routine

If you're falling into bed exhausted every night and waking up on the go every morning, remembering your facial-care routine might seem out of the question. But if cranky skin is getting you down, it's probably worth setting aside a few minutes each day to cleanse and moisturize. Here are a few tips to guide you:

  • Make it part of your routine. Now that your time is no longer wholly your own, you may find that you rely more and more on routines to help you get important things done. Caring for your skin should be a part of that routine. For example, you can wash and moisturize your face while waiting for your tea to brew every morning.

  • Find new products that fit your new skin. If you usually wear makeup, you may need to experiment with different formulations or brands to find a good match for your skin. It's more expensive than buying your makeup from the drugstore, but it might be worthwhile to seek out a department store where the salespeople can recommend products for your skin type and give you an in-store demonstration before you buy.

  • Make it easy on yourself. Choose products that are easy to use, multifunctional, and require little fuss or time. Even the type of bottle (does it require two hands to open?) may make the difference between a product you'll be able to use easily while holding your baby or one you'll be more likely to skip.

  • Keep it clean. Heavy makeup isn't just time-consuming to apply, but also it clogs pores and takes a lot longer to wash away completely. Who needs it, especially if you'll be spending a lot of time at home?
