Now, disagreement over freedom is no longer about a theoretical matter of principle, as it was in early adolescence. It has become intensely practical. The teenager begins to contest to what degree you can actually restrict the freedom he or she wants. “You can't make me, and you can't stop me! You're running a home, not a prison, you know!”
