The Importance of Identification

Properly identifying your poodle is never more important than when you're traveling. The idea of losing your dog when you're in unfamiliar territory is almost too awful to contemplate. But think about it you must, so that you can plan ahead and do everything in your power to make sure your poodle isn't lost while you travel. If you identify her properly, you'll have more hope if the worst does occur.

Your poodle should always wear a collar while traveling, with a tag that lists your current contact information. Obviously, your home number won't do any good if you're traveling. Rather, your dog's travel tag should have your cellular phone number (if you have one), as well as an emergency number in case your cell phone isn't working properly. You might use the number of a trusted friend or relative who will have your itinerary and know how to contact you.

If you don't have a cell phone, the tag should give the phone number of the hotel where you're staying. This might mean a new tag every day, but that's easy to accomplish if you pack extra paper tags and a permanent marker.
