If you adopt an adult poodle, rather than a puppy, socialization is still important. With any luck, your poodle will have been well socialized as a pup. But if you don't know whether that was the case, get her out and about and expose her to new things, just like you would if she were a puppy.

If your poodle is scared by some of the new experiences, do everything you can to make them positive. Make sure lots of treats are rained upon her in new situations. But don't ask more of her than she can handle. Stay upbeat, and be patient.
