Dog Park Etiquette
If you're lucky enough to live in an area that has a dog park, where dogs are allowed to run and play off-leash in a secure area, by all means take advantage of it. Before you go, you should know some basic rules that all dog-park attendees should follow:
Bring your poodle only after you're confident she'll be friendly with other dogs.
Always pick up after your dog and dispose of the waste properly.
Don't bring out treats around a group of dogs.
Always ask permission of the owner before giving another dog a treat.
Apologize if your dog behaves inappropriately — don't get defensive.
Offer to pay any vet bills if your dog injures another.
Dog parks can be overwhelming to some dogs. If your poodle doesn't enjoy the attention of the dogs there or seems overly stressed at the dog park, take a step back. Get her more comfortable through play dates, then take her back to the park.
Alert!
Calmly leash up your dog and leave if there's another dog at the dog park that you (or your poodle) are uncomfortable with. In order to avoid an injury to your dog, trust your instincts. Watch your poodle closely for clues as to how he feels about the other dogs at the park.
