Caramel Pecan Pizza

Toast pecans on a baking sheet in the oven, or in a little butter in a heavy skillet. Turn or shake often and watch carefully to keep the pecans from burning.

Makes two 12-inch pizzas

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ recipe Sweet Crust dough
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 3 cups Caramel Sauce
  • 4 cups toasted pecan halves
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  1. Roll or press pizza dough into two 12-inch circles, slightly thicker at the edges than in the center. Coat pizza pans with the melted butter and place dough in the pans.

  2. Bake dough at 375° for 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Remove crusts from pans and transfer to serving platters.

  3. Spread 1½ cups sauce evenly over each pizza. Distribute 2 cups toasted pecans over the sauce on each pizza.

  4. In a small bowl, whisk confectioners' sugar to remove any lumps, then stir in heavy cream until smooth. Drizzle this glaze over the pecans. Serve warm with ice cream.
