It may have seemed that Spain had finally risen above being terrorized by pirates and threatened by nations attempting to dip into their New World treasure trove, but that wasn't the case. Little did Spain know that the English were preparing to step in and become the next group to challenge their dominance — and unlike the French, the Brits didn't have a problem taking prisoners.
