Contemporary philosophy has been a boon period for ethics in several ways. For one, metaethics has flourished, borrowing on the analytic tradition's analysis of words and concepts. Second, normative ethical theories have been examined anew. Most notably, fields in applied ethics like medical ethics, business ethics, sports ethics, and others have gotten a foothold. Philosophical ethics has helped to illuminate problems in several fields.
