Evaluation and Significance

There is little question that analytic philosophy changed the manner in which philosophy was done. Using newer methods of logical and linguistic analysis illuminated old philosophical queries in ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology. Looking to the future, analytic philosophy's reach will be long and wide. We know this by its influence to this point, which has included ethics (including the work of philosophers such as Charles Stevenson, R. M. Hare, and Phillipa Foot), philosophy of religion (for instance, the work of William Alston, John Mackie, and Alvin Plantinga), and political philosophy (including John Rawls and Robert Nozick).
