The glory days of the Greek philosophers ended with the death of Aristotle, but the intellectual life of humankind was just beginning. The four main philosophies of the Roman world (Epicureanism, Stoicism, Skepticism, and Neoplatonism) sprang from the rich Greek philosophical tradition. Though we now look to Rome, the age is still referred to as the Hellenistic (or Greek) period.
