Phenomenology is a twentieth-century school of philosophy that attempts to eliminate theories and preconception and strives to “keep it simple.” The existentialists believe that, despite the pessimism and nihilism that a world without spirituality can engender, individuals are capable of profound personal heroism in the face of seeming hopelessness.
