Nothing is as rejuvenating as a bowl of hearty pasta on a winter night, or as refreshing as pasta with fragrant raw tomatoes on a summer afternoon. But sweet pasta, noodles with sugar and honey, cinnamon and berries, chocolate and cream, is something completely different. Pasta transforms itself into dessert when it is served as deliciously filled sweetened wontons and raviolis; couscous, warmed and spice-scented: and puddings, rich in noodles and egg. The results can be both homey and spectacular, simple to prepare, or a tour de force in the kitchen. Pasta alone may not be as decadent as chocolate or as comforting as custard, but few foods are as gratifying as noodles. In combination with desserts' sweet ingredients, they are all the more satisfying.
