According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website, “birth defects affect about one in every 33 babies born in the United States each year.” Not every birth defect is life-threatening, and not every birth defect is detected at birth. However, every parent's heart breaks for a child who has extra obstacles to overcome in life. A baby's special need affects herself and every member of her family.
