ONCE YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED with dyslexia or a related learning disability, federal law provides a number of additional protections. Whether or not your child qualifies for special education services, your child has the right to receive whatever accommodations or modifications are necessary to provide equal access to educational services. Your child also shares in the same legal rights that apply to other children, and your child may be protected by special legislation that applies to schools in your state. As a parent, it is important for you to understand what your child's rights are and how to make sure they are enforced.
