Activities and Exercise
Generally, if your child's asthma has been well-controlled, he should be able to do most activities on a trip such as sightseeing, biking, or swimming. However, remind him to use techniques — such as warm-ups and premedication with his quick-relief inhaler — to avoid exercise-induced asthma.
Also, if he is traveling to higher elevations from a lower elevation, his asthma should be manageable at higher altitude — but make sure he or you discuss any management strategies beforehand with his health care provider.
Also, encourage your child to have fun with a buddy when involved in any of these activities — just in case he needs any assistance. And, of course, remind him (if he is carrying an inhaler with him when at school) to continue to do so when away.
