Some parents turn to experimental or alternative treatments when their children fail to respond to standard treatment or have adverse reactions. Some of these treatments claim to stimulate and balance the nervous system while others promise to change the way your child processes visual or auditory information. Because experimental and alternative treatments such as homeopathy and herbal medicine are not approved by the National Institutes of Health or the National Institute of Mental Health for treating childhood ADHD, discuss them with your physician before incorporating them into your child's treatment program.
