Reading Your Health Line
The Mercury line, also called the health line, begins at the life line and rises toward the Mercury mount. If you have this line — not everyone does — you may have a problem with gastrointestinal or liver diseases. This line can also indicate kidney problems and problems with the uterus and ovaries, especially if it is weak and broken. In conjunction with yellowish skin, a weak Mercury line may signal liver disease; together with breaks on the heart line, it warns of emotional restrictions that can lead to gastrointestinal distress.
Via Lascivia
While you are in this area, you should also look at the via lascivia, a minor line that runs below and alongside the Mercury line from the life line upward. Formerly thought to indicate excessive interest and overindulgence in sex, it is now believed to show sensitivity to foods and other substances and so indicates allergies and addictions.
The bracelets around the wrist, called rascettes, are traditional indicators of a long life, depending on how many lines there are — the deeper and stronger they are, the healthier the person. However, an arch in the topmost rascette can signal gynecological problems and perhaps even difficultly in childbearing.
Unfortunately, some of the substances that the via lascivia pinpoints as problematic are drugs — both legal and illegal — and alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine. If you have this line, pay special attention to moderate use of any legal substances (if you use them at all), and, of course, stay away from the illegal ones.
