Relating the Three Main Lines
Not only is it important to look at each of the three major lines as an individual entity, you should also see how they relate to each other. First, check to see which of the three is the strongest. If it's your life line, you will value physical pursuits above intellectual matters. If the heart line is strongest, you may be impulsive and tend to place a greater emphasis on relationships and the emotional life. A stronger head line will make mental activities your favorite. It is said that a strong head line can overcome deficiencies in the heart line.
The Relationship of Head and Life Lines
The life line will generally originate in the same place as the head line. This is because the early part of your life will be controlled by your family, and your intellect has its origins there as well. The place where the lines separate show where the person leaves the family to venture out on his own and to think independently.
If, as is usual, your life line is connected to the head line at the very beginning, your hand will show that you have learned well in the family setting to be cautious and not to rush to decisions. However, if the two lines stay joined too long, you may have been too influenced by your family and lack an independent nature, relying on others to think for you.
If your life and head lines do not originate together and indeed they never meet, you may be self-reliant and outgoing — or reckless and hasty. If the two lines stay close together even after breaking apart, you will remain an independent and confident person, but a head and life line that are far apart show a tendency toward extreme impulsiveness and an inability to stay on task.
One Heart, One Mind?
A heart line that drops to meet the life and head lines shows a person torn between the head and the heart — one who loves mankind, perhaps, but can't stand people. But if the lines meet on a more equal basis, it shows the person can balance the emotional and intellectual aspects of life. Too wide a space between the heart and head lines shows an extroverted, tolerant, and original thinker; a narrow space shows an introspective and private person at best and a narrow-minded and a judgmental person at worst.
Check the timing of events or situations by looking at what is happening at the same time on other lines. This will help you to better interpret what is going on in any particular area, as all life events will have an effect on each other and help to modify or accentuate another.
