Setting the Tone

Most professional palm readers are experts at setting the proper tone for doing a reading. The lights are dim, there are plenty of candles and incense, and the music perfectly sets the mood for concentration. But what else do they do to prepare for giving the highest-quality reading they can muster?

Some readers begin with a meditation or prayer. When you begin with a prayer, you are immediately connecting to a higher power to help you offer the best insights and information for your client. You are allowing the positive energy of the universe to flow from your heart and hands into the client's — ensuring a reading that will best serve the client's interests, needs, and desires.

Turn off the phone and remove anything that will interfere with your concentration. Even before the client appears, you can start with some deep breathing exercises to facilitate clear thinking and a peaceful demeanor. As you inhale and exhale deeply, begin your prayer: “O Loving Spirit, let your wisdom pour into my hands so that it may also fill the hands of my clients. Help me to help them find their way through this earthly life — to instill in them the knowledge that they always have choices, and that here today we look to the plan in their hands as only a guide or aid along the way.”

Taking Their Hands into Yours

When the client is with you and you've already completed the initial assessment, take her hands in yours and hold them for a brief moment. Free your mind, close your eyes, and allow yourself to feel the impressions of her hands in yours. What are your feelings about these hands? Where have they been, and where are they going?

Many professional palm readers combine methods of spiritual readings for their clients. They might begin with a quick look at the three major lines, then do a tarot card reading or crystal reading to confirm what they are picking up psychically. It's okay to combine methods, provided you know enough about each to make the information valuable to your client.

Allow your mind to record its own impressions in this “energy reading” of your client's hands. The more practice you get using this psychic version of palm reading, the better a reader you'll become with time. You'll be amazed at how much information you can pick up about a person just from touching her hands — without even looking at the major lines yet!
