An In-Depth Hand Analysis
Once you become a more experienced reader, you'll come to notice that there are several very typical questions that clients ask:
What is my personality like?
Am I going to succeed in my business or career?
Will I be married soon?
How many children will I have?
What are my prospects for a long life?
Will I be wealthy?
When will I be able to retire?
Will I be famous or well known?
Do you see any warning signs on my hands?
Most of these questions can be answered in the quick overview reading, but some may require a more in-depth reading of both hands. Get out your magnifying glass and start making some detailed notes for the more difficult questions posed by your clients — and don't be afraid to say, “I'm not sure,” if the lines are hard to read or if you are simply not certain what you're seeing. Admitting you don't know can actually build a client's confidence level in your abilities as a reader; there's nothing more damaging to a client than misrepresentation. Remember, they are vulnerable and deserve to know the truth about all aspects of their readings.
Take Your Time
An in-depth reading requires at least thirty minutes, but preferably one hour of your time. The reason for this is that you are going to look at not only the three major lines, but also the mounts of the fingers and palm, the overall skin condition and tone, secondary lines and patterns, and other important features — basically, everything we've covered in this book!
Try to stay objective and emotionally detached as you read someone else's hands. Weigh each word carefully — there are plenty of things you might see in the hands that might seem on first reading to be negative but which later turn out to be surmountable.
Some readers ask their clients to provide a photocopy of their hands ahead of time so that they can do a preliminary assessment prior to the in-depth, in-person reading. That's fine, but be sure to write notes so that you don't spend your in-person time going over things that you've already covered. You can quickly go over the notes from the photocopies, then look at the actual hands to begin the in-depth reading.
Dealing with Major Issues and Concerns
In the in-depth reading, more than likely you will be dealing with lots of major issues, concerns, and questions from your client. While it's perfectly fine to ask the client to focus on one or two main questions at the beginning of the reading, you'll find that there's time to go into greater detail, discussing hopes, dreams, and future possibilities.
You can begin with the basic personality assessment, followed by an initial hand assessment and overview, and then veer off into as many different issues and directions as your time will allow. At the end of it all, don't forget to ask your client if she feels satisfied with the reading, and whether all questions have been answered. You'll want her to leave feeling like she has a better sense of herself, with a more confident outlook regarding her future.
When your reading is finished and your client leaves, you should do a “space cleansing” and reclaim your own energy, as much was likely expended in the reading itself. The best way to reclaim energy is to burn some lavender incense and take a relaxing sea salt luxury bath. You've earned it!
