The Question of Progeny

Children are a big part of the family. Traditionally, palm readers established how many children a woman would have according to the number of small vertical lines that met with the marriage lines beneath her Mercury finger. Deep straight lines were thought to represent boys and shallow or curved lines signaled girls. Today, the interpretation of these lines has expanded — though they may represent your own children, they could also indicate relationships you will have with other children as a family member, teacher, coach, or scout leader. According to one recent approach, look for girls in lines that rise from the attachment line away from Apollo and boys in lines that travel toward Apollo.

Child lines

Pay close attention when attempting to read the children lines; since they are so close in proximity and appearance to stress lines they are often misread. Use a magnifying glass for closer scrutiny.

Another indication of children in your immediate family can be seen in lines of influence that travel from the Luna mount to the fate line. It is these lines that signify successful relationships, including the birth of children and other truly significant events in your life. Look at the fate line beyond its confluence with the lines of influence to see what the outcome of that relationship will be in your life.

Child Rearing

You can learn a lot from reading your child's hands. Use that information to bring your parental attention to particular elements in order to create a healthy relationship with your child. Following are some examples of child-rearing strategies based on the child's hand shape:

  • Square-handed children are obedient and respond well to discipline. They may not have an imaginative reaction to life, but you can overcome that by being clear about the practicality of the skills you want them to have. You can also stress a love for aesthetics that augments their own commonsense approach to life.

  • Spatulate-handed children need an outlet for their energy; good ideas include the sciences, crafts, and books on travel and invention. These children can benefit from having a routine, but make sure not to do it in a way that will challenge but not alienate.

  • Pointed-handed children are sensitive and need sympathy and encouragement to become more assertive and brave. Keep these children active and happy by serving as a role model to overcome negativity and dreaminess, and try to establish a sense of self-reliance, good work habits, and organization so that they can find a place for themselves in the real world.

  • Conical-handed children should be given a routine to follow and encouraged to pursue outdoor activities that keep them grounded. Also encourage practical activities and an independent nature. However, make sure that you fulfill their love for communication via music and books by making these a treat for sustained effort.

If your child has a head line that is close to the life line, encourage him with great praise when he uses his initiative and finds ways to overcome dilemmas. If it is further from the life line, be more careful with your praise, and make sure that he is really trying to do his best and isn't just getting by. Curb his impulsiveness and make sure he learns organization and precision.

Psychic or conical-shaped hands are becoming more and more prevalent on children; metaphysicians believe this is because more children have heightened awareness as a result of being “old souls.” In other words, they've lived at least one lifetime prior to their current one.

Children with a thumb at a right angle to the Jupiter finger will have a good sense of fairness toward others and can be trusted in most cases. If the angle is smaller, the child will have to learn to be fair through both lectures and example. And a child with a very large angle to the Jupiter finger may need to be taught not to let others take advantage of him. A child with a curving thumb needs to learn to be thrifty, but one who has a rigid thumb must learn to share.

These are just a few examples of how your knowledge of palmistry will help you become a better parent. There are many other instances whereby you can look at what is written in the lines of your child's hand and find ways to augment the positive forces and introduce skills that will counteract the more negative ones.
