Shaking Hands with Destiny
We share much with our friends — hobbies, good times, insights — and often the palm lines of close friends turn out to be very similar. This shouldn't be surprising. After all, if your interests, attitudes, and even personality match your friend's, these similarities can be demonstrated in terms of the similarities on your hands.
If you and your friends are not alike in personality, it is also true that opposites attract, and differing personalities serve to complement each other and bring out new qualities in each other. The hands indicate our strength and weaknesses, dreams and desires, and this is what forms the bonds of friendships. A bold person may help a shy friend learn to come out of herself, while a measured and thoughtful person can check the exuberance and rash behavior of a friend and teach him to think about the consequences of his actions before he acts.
Look at how a potential business partner holds his or her hands. Are the thumbs tucked into a fist? If so, you best avoid placing your trust in this person; such a hand position generally indicates a person who is hiding something.
It's important to know, then, both in personal and in business relationships, what the other person is like, so we can build on commonalities, learn from differences, and find out whether our relationships will work to our advantage or whether they are doomed to failure. Our hands will also help us to see ways to make our relationships better, and will pinpoint areas where we can improve ourselves and learn to understand others so that we can increase compatibility and improve our friendships and partnerships.
