Implementing the Diet
The first step to implementing the Paleo lifestyle is to figure out what you and your family are going to eat. Using the lists in the appendixes and the general rule that if it was hunted or gathered you can eat it, start to imagine the types of dishes you will make and where and when you are going to prepare them. If you have a busy lifestyle, and working during the day is the norm, preparation in bulk will be your best friend. On the weekends, or every couple of days, cook up a few of your favorite meals and pack them in smaller containers for the refrigerator or freezer. Preparation in advance will make things easy and will reduce the temptation to veer off course.
What do I do if I am out and without a prepared meal?
Eating out Paleo is easier than you might think. Any grilled meat with steamed vegetables or mixed green salad with grilled steak, chicken, or shrimp on top is a perfect Paleo meal. Make sure to ask for lemon and olive oil on the side for a quick, refreshing dressing alternative to balsalmic vinegar.
