Maple Barley Breakfast
Yields 1 cup
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup milk (dairy or soy)
⅔ cup cooked barley
1 tablespoon maple syrup
Cook a batch of barley and put it use in several recipes, like this comforting breakfast or Italian Beans & Barley.
In a small saucepan, warm milk.
Top barley with warm milk and maple syrup.
Although pearled barley is not a whole grain (the hull has been removed), it is still high in fiber. This is because dietary fiber is found throughout the barley grain. Barley can be a helpful digestive aid in children with constipation due to its high-fiber content.
