Chicken with Cherries & Brown Rice

Yields 2 cups

INGREDIENTS:

6 cups water

1 boneless, skinless chicken breast

½ cup pitted cherries

1 cup cooked brown rice

Cook a plain extra chicken breast when you cook dinner for your family to use in a purée for your infant.

  • In a large pot bring the 6 cups of water to a boil. Place chicken breast in pot and boil until done, approximately 10 minutes. Once done, cut into small pieces and allow to cool.

  • Combine chicken, cherries, and brown rice.

  • Use a food processor or blender until desired consistency reached. Use broth from cooking the chicken, breast milk, or iron-fortified formula to reach an age-appropriate consistency. If consistency is too chunky, drain through a sieve and purée remaining liquid.
