Beef Stew Mash
Yields 1 cup
INGREDIENTS:
2 ounces of beef
2 cups water
1 carrot, scrubbed and sliced
½ medium-sized russet potato, peeled and diced
Most of your family stew recipes can be transformed into baby foods. Just limit the amount of spices and make sure the ingredients are age appropriate. You can purée just about any food for your child!
In a medium-sized heavy saucepan, brown the beef.
In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a simmering boil. Add beef, cover, and cook 20 minutes. Add carrot and potato and cook another 15 minutes or until all ingredients are falling apart. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
Use a food processor or blender until desired consistency is reached. Use broth from cooking the beef to reach age-appropriate consistency.
If consistency is too chunky, drain through a sieve and purée remaining liquid.
