Beef & Barley
For a shortcut, buy precooked beef from the store.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 8 tablespoons
- 2 ounces of stew beef or other cut, cooked beef
- 3 tablespoons cooked pearl barley
- 2 tablespoons store-bought carrot purée
Cut beef into small pieces. Combine cooked beef, barley, and carrot purée together.
Use a food processor or blender until desired consistency is reached. Use beef or vegetable broth to reach an age-appropriate consistency. If consistency is too chunky, drain through a fine-mesh sieve.
Baby Food in a Slow Cooker?
Slow cookers are a great way to make baby foods. Place your meats, vegetables, spices, and water in a slow cooker. Turn it on and forget about it until later in the day. Meats and vegetables get cooked to a wonderful texture for puréeing. When done, purée the stew, serve, and then freeze the leftovers.
