Easy Gravy

Yields 1 cup

INGREDIENTS:

1 bouillon cube (vegan, chicken, or beef)

1 cup plus 2 tablespoons water

2 teaspoons soy sauce

¼ teaspoon poultry seasoning

1 tablespoon corn starch

For many young eaters, sauces and dips make every dish more exciting. This easy gravy can dress up many different entrées, from Organic Farmer's Pie to broiled chicken.

  • Dissolve bouillon cube in 1 cup boiling water.

  • Add soy sauce and poultry seasoning to bouillon.

  • In a separate small bowl, thoroughly combine corn starch with 2 tablespoons water.

  • Add diluted corn starch to bouillon mixture, stirring until combined and thickened.

Sauces Can Make Dinnertime Easier

Around 18 months, even the easiest eater can start to be picky. Diets that used to be rich with fruits, vegetables, grains, and proteins can whittle down to just a few items in what seems like the blink of an eye. Offering a favorite sauce, whether it's ketchup, gravy, or dip can keep little ones eating a greater variety. While ketchup-dipped cantaloupe probably sounds unappealing to an adult, it might just be a culinary delight to a child.
