Papaya Purée
Papaya is a fruit that does not freeze well. It is recommended to only make what you can use fresh. It does keep for a few days nicely in the fridge and continues to soften over time.
INGREDIENTS | YIELDS 12 tablespoons
- ½ medium papaya
- 1–2 tablespoons formula or breast milk
Cut papaya in half lengthwise; scrape out the seeds and discard them.
Scoop out the flesh of ½ the papaya and put in bowl.
Add formula or breast milk to papaya and mash with fork.
Mash until desired consistency reached.
How Do You Know if a Papaya Is Ripe?
You want to buy a papaya when it is almost ripe and is half-green and half-yellow. It will take two to four days to ripen from this stage. You can begin to smell the papaya as it ripens, and you can tell it's ripe when it is slightly sensitive to pressure.
