Avocado Mash

Yields 6 tablespoons

INGREDIENTS:

1 ripe avocado

Avocado is a great first food. It's loaded with monosaturated fat (the good fat), folate, potassium, and fiber. Avocados do have more calories than other fruits and vegetables, so use in moderation.

  • Slice avocado around the outside lengthwise. Twist both sides off the seed of the avocado. Scoop out flesh from one side of the avocado. Mash until desired consistency reached.

  • Wrap remaining avocado with the seed in it with plastic wrap and store in the refrigerator.

Can You Freeze an Avocado?

Avocados do not freeze well due to their consistency. You can use lemon juice on the avocado to help prevent browning; however, your baby is not ready for citrus until closer to one year old, so only cut the amount of avocado that you can use in that day. Or, make the family guacamole and pull some plain avocado out for your baby.
