Baked Pita Chips
Yields 48 chips
INGREDIENTS:
6 whole-wheat pita pockets
½ cup olive oil
½ teaspoon garlic salt
These make great chips for hummus. Serve these with the Hummus on or with the Hummus Yogurt Dipping Sauce.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Lay out 6 whole wheat pitas and brush both sides with olive oil.
Cut each whole-wheat pita pocket into 8 chips.
Sprinkle with garlic salt. Spread pita chips out on a baking sheet.
Bake for about 7 minutes or until pita turns brown and crispy.
Whole-wheat pita bread is a great base for many toddler meals. First, it is wonderful to use for dips. Second, it also makes a great pizza crust for making individual pizzas. Additionally, pitas can be made into pockets and can be used to stuff with sandwich fixings for a quick and healthy meal. When heating pita, sprinkle both sides with water to prevent splitting.
