Marriage records are something a genealogist always hopes to find because they help to “tie the knot” between two branches of the family tree. They can offer evidence that a couple was legally married, and may also indicate the bride's maiden name. Sometimes you'll even learn the bride and groom's date of birth or the names of the parents or other family members. Marriages also tend to generate a variety of documents, which increases your chances of finding a record that has survived through the years.
