Entertainment Auction Sites

Entertainment items are hot sellers on many online auction sites, including eBay, Amazon, Yahoo! and others, as well as niche sites that have the entertainment industry as their central focus. Online, you can bid on or sell a vast array of entertainment goods ranging from old records and new posters to props and costumes from recent movies that were smash hits — or smash flops.

eRock.net

This music online auction site features auctions in twenty categories of rock-and-roll memorabilia ranging from the Beatles, Elvis Presley, and the Rolling Stones to guitar picks and vinyl record albums. The site charges no listing fees to sellers and is aimed at “serious diehard fans, collectors and dealers of Rock-n-Roll memorabilia.”

Internet Movie Poster Auction

The Internet Movie Poster Auctions are hosted by Heritage Galleries & Auctioneers (www.heritagegalleries.com). New items are added each week. Listings are posted for thirty days, and bids can be placed online until 10 PM Central Standard Time (CST) Sunday nights. More than 7,000 members are registered to participate in the auctions.

Available items can be sorted by lowest bid, lowest starting price, fewest bids, as well as which ones are ending first, are highest priced, or are newly listed.

New Line Cinema Auction

New Line Cinema holds online auctions for items from its movies, such as Monster-in-Law and Wedding Crashers, at auction.newline.com. The items up for bid include costumes worn by some of the stars, props from some of the scenes, and movie promotional materials. Each winning bidder gets the auctioned item and a letter of authenticity signed by a New Line Cinema executive. At the site's Upcoming Auctions link, future auctions are promoted, and initial bids can be placed before the auction officially begins. The bids will place bidders on an e-mail list to be notified when the auction starts.

Nauck's Vintage Records

The auctions at Nauck's Vintage Records (www.78rpm.com) are posted online but bidding takes place by e-mail, fax, mail, or telephone. Bid forms can be printed out online, and bids must be submitted by midnight CST of the closing date. New bidders who will be bidding over $500 must first offer two references from major record dealers or post a deposit. Some of the items up for bid range from old acoustic recordings to comedy records, radio transcriptions and wax cylinder recordings that must be played on an old Victrola.
