American Federation of Teachers: The AFT is a teacher's union associated with the AFL–CIO. Among other resources, it provides educators with support and legal aid. It also lobbies congressional leaders concerning educational issues.
American Library Association: The ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world. Members include librarians from the public sector, universities, and schools across the nation and the world.
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD): According to their website, ASCD represents “all aspects of effective teaching and learning.” While focused more upon administrators and professional development, there is much pertinent information here.
Council for Exceptional Children: This organization is dedicated to improving the education provided to gifted students and those with disabilities and varying exceptionalities.
International Reading Association: The International Reading Association is dedicated to promoting literacy for all students and individuals.
National Council of Teachers of English This organization helps bring together English and language arts teachers and provides them with information, resources, and more.
National Council of Teachers of Mathematics: This council provides educators with excellent information and resources pertinent to the world of math.

National Education Association: The NEA is a teacher's union that traces its roots to 1857. The group does many things, including lobbying congressional leaders concerning educational issues and providing legal support for educators.
National Science Teachers Association: This organization allows science teachers to investigate the latest educational and scientific developments.
United States Distance Learning Association: This association provides information, advocacy, and opportunities for distance-learning educators.
