There are a number of ways in which you can become a nurse. The one most highly recommended is to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (B.S.N.). Studies have shown that patients experience better outcomes in situations and environments where they are cared for by a higher number of B.S.N. nurses. Therefore, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) is advocating for two-thirds (66 percent) of the nursing force to be composed of B.S.N.-and M.S.N.-prepared nurses by 2010.
